This very finely made and decorated bowl was most likely supported on a pedestal base, rather than having a rounded bottom, but this cannot be ascertained with complete certainty. The rim is decorated with an inner row of stamped circles (A417), set off from the dentate-stamped and carved “double-bird” motif (PK137) by a narrow groove. On the outer vessel surface, the decoration commences with a dentate-stamped band of A54-2, followed by zone marker RZ4D-4R-2. Below this there are two alternating main motifs: PK72 is an anthropomorphic face, the ovoid eyes defined by dentate stamping around stamped circles, with the nose and face outlined with the zone marker technique. As in several other ECA face motifs, the sides of the face then curve back up again to become raised arms. Across the flat top of the head are a series of dentate-stamped triangular spikes (as in ECA-V-047), possibly representative of a feather headdress. The space to either side of the face defined by the curving, upraised arms is filled in with a zigzag motif. The other main motif (PK169) is of the zigzag type, set off along the bottom with lozenges and a wavy row of stamped circles. Below this the vessel surface is clean.
