Reconstructed vessels catalog

This is the base of either a pedestal base or a cylinder stand, but based on the high degree of similarity in paste, red slip and fine decoration, we believe it is very likely to be from the same cylinder stand as vessels ECA-V-073 and -188. Because we cannot match these sherds, however, we have continued to number them separately. On this sherd we have only the fragment (TFG2738) of a main curvilinear motif. Below this zone marker RZ4D-3-2 runs horizontally, and between the zone marker and the base lip is motif PK122.

This rim (lacking the lip) of a flat-bottom dish has two main motifs

This is an example of a rare “double rim” in which there is a vertical rim and a second horizontal rim extending out some 2 cm from the vessel wall, about 1.1 cm below the lip of the vertical rim. The lip of the vertical rim has zone marker RZ4D-4-2, and below this motif A417, stamped circles. The horizontal rim has zone marker RZ4D-4R-2, and then motif M19-4-2. On the exterior below the horizontal rim, the decoration begins with motif A1, followed by zone marker RZ4D-4R-2, then motif M77-2-3, followed by two bands of zone marker RZ4D-4R-2. Below this the main motif is PK521, a variant of the zigzag design family.

This pedestal base probably had quite an elaborate decoration, but only a small fragment of the main motif remains, coded as TFG1308, involving lime in-filled cutouts and thick curvilinear zone marking. Motif A497, a series of nested semi-circles, is followed by the base motif PK281, a variant of the long-beaked bird motif. It is likely that this pedestal base supported one of the elaborate IB type bowls also exhibiting the long-beaked bird motif on its rim lip.

This is the base of a pedestal, quite thick and massive. The lip of the base is not decorated, while the exterior bears delicate stamped lozenges (motif PK276) in two parallel rows and above that in seemingly random orientations.

This is the base of a small pedestal, with traces of cutout triangular spaces extending right through the vessel wall. The relatively small area of decoration extant begins with motif GS82, stamped lozenges, bounded to either side with cutouts extending through the vessel wall. Below this is a horizontal line zone marker GZ1, followed by zone marker RZ4D-3-1. The lowest motif, forming a band around the base of the pedestal, is PK313, sets of slanting dentate stamped lines.

This is the rim of a delicate, thin-walled jar. The flat lip is decorated with motif A151, sets of alternating slanting lines. On the exterior, the decoration begins with motif A1, followed by zone marker RZ4D-4R-2. The main motif, PK451, is defined below by zone marker RZ4D-3-1, and the lowest motif evident is GS592.

This is the neck and partial rim of a thin-walled jar, missing the out-turned lip. The interior is undecorated while the exterior has unusually delicate incising done with a fine tool. The motif, consisting of an interlocking pattern of blocks of parallel lines running at right angles to each other, has been coded as motif PK299. The same motif appears on ECA-V-239, although this is clearly a different vessel.

This thin-walled, well-fired globular jar has an everted rim and lip decorated by simple notching along the inner and outer edges (motif PK414).
