Field school students, 1990, empty the backfill from a test trench that McAnany excavated in 1981 (as part of the Pulltrouser Swamp Project). This trench framed the southern side of Operation 1 and its stratigraphy guided excavation in the large 6 x 8 meter unit to the north (view to west).
