A very fragmentary Sierra Red jar with a slightly rounded base (18 cm diameter) and no rim sherds. The slip is a reddish yellow (5YR 7/8), as is the coarse paste (5YR 6/8) that contains large inclusions and a blackened core. The vessel wall is 1.2 cm thick. The jar was apparently purposefully broken during deposition to form a "shield" over the chest of the individual. This vessel was an heirloom Late KÕatabcheÕkÕax piece found in a Terminal KÕatabcheÕkÕax context.
